Anyone already going or wanna join me for this event? Since it?s a fest, either call beforehand or shoot me a text while there and we all can meet up: [masked].
Reasons it?s all good to me: *11 quality bands
(check out the good website where they have an excellent streaming songs you can control to listen to bands) I was drawn by the only band I know, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (on a fave label, Polyvinyl, home of Of Montreal, Architecture in Helsinki, Mates of State, etc.), and now am turned on by many of the other bands I look forward to seeing live (e.g. Dada Trash Collage track brought Animal Collective to mind)*All Tomorrow?s Parties documentary
Twin Cities? premiere I?ve been wanting to see. Premieres of film have sold out in numerous Euro cities so will be great to see within this fest. All Tomorrow?s Parties is a kaleidoscopic journey into the parallel musical universe of the cult music festival of the same name.
All Tomorrow?s Parties is a DIY concert film featuring performances from an eclectic mix artists including: Battles, Sonic Youth, Belle And Sebastian, Patti Smith, Animal Collective, Grinderman, Iggy and the Stooges, Portishead, Mogwai, Slint, Grizzly Bear, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Gossip, Daniel Johnston and The Boredoms.*Live ?Music, art, theater, fashion, dance
? Clapperclaw Fest throws it all in a blender, adds a shot of sex and violence, then hits ?frappe.? Can?t miss.? ? Vitamin quote*Grindhouse flicks theme
d visual media throughout. Cool t-shirts ? bring your own shirt for $5! Anthem Heart will be designing a custom shirt for Clapperclaw and will be printing them onsite - one day only - at this year's fest on September 5. Bring your own blank t-shirt or buy one of the assorted colors on hand. Either way, you'll walk away with a one of a kind shirt! Anthem Heart is a 3-man whirlwind of squeegies, ink, sweat, music and mayhem. Sure they print shirts but lately they have been ramping up the live performance angle of thier operation. "Interactive Live T-shirts", is what they're calling it. You'll have to see it to believe it - pick your colors, shirt style, and maybe they'll even let you pull the squeegie yourself! Bring your own shirt and it will be printed for as low as 5 bucks! www.anthemheart.com*Part of proceeds benefit Intermedia Arts

The 3rd Annual Clapperclaw Music & Arts Festival is coming Saturday September 5 2009. After two years of throwing the biggest warehouse art party in the Twin Cities, Clapperclaw is taking over Intermedia Arts in sexy south Minneapolis. With music on outdoor and indoor stages, art, film, fashion and live theater- all gathered under the theme of Grindhouse flicks- Clapperclaw is expanding on it?s mission as the place to see what?s on the rise.
Music headliners this year are a familiar face to many Minnesotans- Free Energy (ex- Hockey Night, Philadelphia, PA) are coming back to excite the crowd with their beloved brand of glam punk-pop. Supporting acts outside are Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin (Springfield, MO), hometown blues-rock beasts City on the Make, innovating MC Kristoff Krane, City Pages ?Artist of the Year? Guante and instrumental hip-hop from No Bird Sing. In the Intermedia Black Box Theater, The Show Is The Rainbow (Lincoln, NE) bring the indie theatrics along with energetic electronica by Tarlton, inspired eclectics Dada Trash Collage, supergroup Elite Gymnastics (featuring Peter Lansky- DJ Soviet Panda) and Phantom Tails brings serious musicianship to the masses.
Throughout the venue, Clapperclaw presents ?HOMEGRIND? visual art from 19 local artists, each one chosen for their voracious intake of culture, their dynamic color and adventurous, sexy spirit. Artists of note include Isaac Arvold (recently shown at First Amendment), Garrett Perry (Fox Tax, Rosalux), Jesse Draxler & Justin Sehorn (Lovelee Buttons, Vigilante Justice) and Mayme Donsker. Continuing with the promotion of local art, design star Laura Fulk, fresh off her debut line ?Suffocate? will show work, along with designers breaking into the scene such as Emilee Kuznar, cementing Clapperclaw as a place to show.
Clapperclaw is also proud to partner with Sound Unseen to bring a very special premiere to Minneapolis- the documentary ?All Tomorrow?s Parties.? This film of the legendary concert series is compiled from over 200 contributors with key participation from Jonathon Caouette (?Tarnation?) and Vincent Moon (Take Away Shows). Later in the evening, original experimental performance company Lamb Lays with Lion will present the next three episodes of The Ongoing Saga of Clapperclaw. Debuted at the first Clapperclaw in 2007, this serialized play takes Twin Peaks style intrigue, mixes in local history, slasher flicks, daytime soaps and turns the whole event into an unforgettable multi-media experience- something you will only find at the Clapperclaw Music & Arts Festival.
And Clapperclaw continues to give back to the community. From showcasing work from Interact Arts in 2007 to fundraising for Free Arts Minnesota in 2008, Clapperclaw has supported organizations that bring the arts to those who need it most. Our arrangements with our sponsors give back to Intermedia Arts, furthering their mission as a vital urban center for arts and education. Clapperclaw sponsors include 89.3 The Current, Metro Magazine, The Onion, McNally Smith College of Music, Red Bull, Sound Unseen, Robotlove, Mr. Chan Presents, Mutual Design Playground, Love lee Buttons, MPLSart, MNfashion, The Electric Fetus, Copycats Media, IndieTickets.com, ThriftyHipster.com.
Brace yourself for the blast, get away from your everyday grind to the Grindhouse, chow down some Chef Shack, get open and get Clapperclaw.
