Acoustic Open Mic/Jam Session

Now that I'm all settled in at my new place in Allston, I'm ready to host again! Come join us for a Friday night full of music and good company. All genres, and styles are welcome. We've had folk, jazz, blues, (western) classical, bluegrass, standards and opera, including music in about six different languages. So, don't worry about your music being too "out there" for this group. Covers and originals are equally welcome, as is a capella (the voice is an acoustic instrument!)

We're going to try out a slightly different format than the 2012 meetups: the first hour or so will be open-mic style, then once everyone's had a turn who wants one, we'll all jam together.

There's a guitar, lefty banjo and concertina for anyone to play. No piano anymore, sorry! I might make an exception to the "acoustic" rule if someone wanted to plug in a keyboard; send me a message if you're planning on it.

We'll have a bunch of snacks, and further Food/alcohol contributions are welcome, but not required or expected. Looking forward to seeing you there!

All the best,

I had a great time last night with this fantastic group of musicians. The informal open mike was nice and the hanging out and jamming was amazing. Amy's hot violin playing on Johnnie Be Good was my highlight of the night. Sort of Charlie Daniels Devil taking over Amy's body for the moment.

I'll be coming with Amy. Looking forward to it! I'll have my acoustic with me, and perhaps my tin whistle. I'll bring some chips and a couple bottles of soda for the group. Perhaps I'll share a new cover I'm working on by David Wilcox.

Looking forward to meeting you too! There is free street parking on the side streets in my neighborhood, though it gets crowded and you may have to park a block or two away. You're welcome to bring a friend, but please RSVP with a "+1."

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
