Cheyenne Canon park is re-open!

http://gazette.com/cheyenne-canon-park-to-reopen-saturday/article/1511273

*if this your first hike with our group for 2013, please bring your $5 annual dues with you.  They will be collected before the event starts.*

3.2 miles, 720 feet elevation gain

Peak Elevation:

8,284 feet (2,524.96 m)

how to get there:  Coming south on I-25 take exit 140 to access Cheyenne Canyon. Drive all the way through past Helen Hunt falls until you reach parking lot at intersection with Gold Camp Road. - See more at: http://www.cospringstrails.com/hikes/mayspeak.html#sthash.pPwPY3m8.dpuf

-The first mile of your hike will follow High Drive. High Drive starts at a gate on the east side of the parking lot.

-High drive climbs gradually, snaking to the north and eventually reaches a saddle or pass-like flat area.

-Look for the old stone “High Drive” sign to your left.
-At this pass, turn with your back to the “High Drive” sign and look for a faint, unmarked trail in the southeast corner of this pass, heading southeast. This is the Mays Peak Trail.
-The trail follows a gentle grade, heading first east then swinging north around the mountain, counterclockwise, in a corkscrew fashion.
-On the north side of the mountain the trail turns sharply south (on your left) and heads directly to the flat, mostly-open summit of Mays Peak.

this parking lot can be extremely packed on weekends so I suggest coming a bit early or you might end up parking down the hill and walking up to the parking lot

I have a Shiba Inu pup that loves hiking, so this should be great fun!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
