May's Peak

    Mays Peak (elevation 8283 ft / 2525 m) is an easily accessible peak located in Cheyenne Canyon.The mountain is just opposite of Mount Buckhorn with High Drive running between them. The summit offers great 360 degree views of the city and the surrounding area.

    Length: 2.6 miles round trip from trailhead on Gold Camp road. 0.8 miles from High Drive.

    Directions: Coming south on I-25 take exit 140 to access Cheyenne Canyon. Drive all the way through past Helen Hunt falls until you reach parking lot at intersection with Gold Camp Road.

    Been a bit rainy here as we'll. expected rain at 10 per forecast... I'm going to reschedule this one. Hiking in the rain is no fun.

    It's raining pretty good right now in Manitou which is in the same neck of the woods as Cheyenne Canyon about. If it starts raining harder and continues I guess I may not be there.

    Hi Tony ...I'd say for part of it, yes ...just the 0.8 part from the parking lot to the trailhead. At that point, we'll be heading up and around to the top of the peak. It's been a while since I've done this one, and I've only done it once, but as I recall, it wasn't a wide path.
