Global Game Jam 2012

This is NOT an event hosted by CiGDA, there will just be a lot of us there. For all information, look at the GGJ location site (it's at the University of Denver), or talk to Rafael (who organizes the GGJ for our area):

Please do let us know if you're going, but you ACTUALLY need to RVSP through the global game jam website. You will need to create a profile/account there, and then choose the University of Denver as your associated site via a drop down menu in your profile. There is a maximum occupancy set on the building, and people that don't pre-register may be turned away at the door.

Here's the info from Rafael:

  • Doors will open at 4:00 pm (earlier arrival is okay by prior communication)
  • Introductory comments will begin at 5:00 pm with Keynote screening immediately after.
  • Will begin uploads at aprox 1:00 pm on Sunday the 27th,
  • Will begin show and tell at around 3:00 pm on Sunday the 27th
  • Hope to be completed by 5:00 pm on Sunday the 27th, with allowances for number of projects.

The deadline for registration is January 11th, so do it sooner than later. And again, you must register at the Global Game Jam site, NOT just here.

Slight problem. I forgot my GGJ password and went to reset it. Well, it wouldn't save my new password and kept throwing me an error. It turns out it was barking because the Denver site I had selected is no longer an option! I had to choose Loveland just to save my profile. What happened to the Denver Jam site being listed?

Benjamin, were you able to sort this out?

Yes, I was able to get that sorted out. Thank you, Rafael!

Rafael rocked the house, as usual. I love GGJ, and DU is one of the best locations for it.

So bummed I was not able to make it, stupid work would NOT give me the time off even though I requested it several weeks in advance. Maybe next time :( Was not sure how to unregister and stuff so hope I didn't take up someones spot or create any issues in that department, hope you all had a blast though!

Global Game Jam 2013 was really cool. It was my first one and I had no real idea what to expect. The creativity and collaboration was very inspiring.

Can you please give me more information on Mixamo? The promotions page states to contact the site organizer for more details on getting started. Thanks!

Oh ok. I was just curious in checking it out, but I don't want to waste it if someone else can truly utilize it. Thanks.

We have reached capacity at the University of Denver, and registration there is now closed.

we are almost full at the University of Denver location. Please remember that posting an RSVP on this MeetUp group does not automatically register you for the jam, nor for our location.

There are now two sites. The one at the University of Denver, organized by yours truly, and the one in Loveland organized by Dave Calabrese (

Thank you for your comment Brittany. Yes, it is important to fill the profile out in full. This is especially key to be able to give proper credit to each and every participant on the games to which they contributed.

I'm a filmmaker and a serious gamer. I'm just getting into the art of game making but not for making games. I'm interested in hooking up with 3D designers and game animators who can create realistic looking cgi creations for my film projects.

Feel free to create a thread in our discussion area - the "Help Wanted" section might be good, but the General section is fine too. I assume there's quite a few art folks that might want to dip their toes into film.

Got registered on the Website, for those who don't know creating an account is how you register, there doesn't seem to be a magic 'I'll be going there' button'

Besides, it gives information to the organizers that will help with the jam overall!
