I mentioned this one at the Sept meeting --
Anne Zouroudi's beguiling contemporary Greek island mystery "The Messenger of Athens". A very subtle and light mix of mythology and modern crime, surprising twists, and the violence is pretty much off the page. Highly recommended.
I've also just finished Donna Leon's excellent "The Girl of His Dreams". Sophisticated (well, it is Venice), with a fine hand as always, and a humane point of view.
"For evil to triumph it is enough only that good men do nothing" - Edmund Burke, paraphrased.
