Babe's Chicken Dinner House and BYOB in Frisco

We had a DiD event at Babe's in Carrollton and we had great food and company. Se we are doing another event in Frisco and you are invited. This will be a joint event. Bring your favorite wine to go with chicken and to share.

Babe's Chicken Dinner House has great family style cooking. The “fried chicken and biscuits puts your mother’s to shame”. Their “old-fashioned” American cooking comes with “all-you-can-eat” “fixings” (like “great” homemade biscuits) passed “family-style”. And they are BYOB (Bring your own Wine too)!!

This is good comfort food that will remind you of your Grandma’s house. Food is served family style, simple iceberg salad, buttermilk biscuits and gravy, green beans, corn, and mashed potatoes.
Please see their web site for full menu: Menu

The Usual Stuff:
Dress code: Casual
If the event is full, please join the Wait List. A place may be available later.
I increase event size since so many people requested to come. We may have 2 tables since they do not accept reservations. Changing your RSVP to “no” less than 24 hours before an event - Email the organizer. Not doing so is considered a “no-show”.

I recommend everyone print directions and the restaurant’s phone number. Asking me for directions is not a good idea; my friends say I can’t navigate out of a paper bag without my Garmin, and they’re correct!

Started by Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher of The Wall Street Journal.

In their words, "We invented OTBN for a simple reason: All of us, no matter how big or small our wine collections, have that single bottle of wine we simply can never bear to open. Maybe it's from Grandpa's cellar or a trip to Italy or a wedding. We're always going to open it on a special occasion, but no occasion is ever special enough. So it sits. And sits. Then, at some point, we decide we should have opened it years ago and now it's bad anyway, so there's no reason to open it, which gives us an excuse to hang onto it for a few more decades.

So OTBN -- which is now always the last Saturday in February -- offers a great opportunity to prepare a special meal, open the bottle and savor the memories."

So bring a bottle you've been saving for that special occasion, and we'll help you share the bottle and the occasion...

Saturday, 2 p.m.-5 p.m

AND this afternoon there is live music in the garden! It just doesn't get much better than this!

La Buena Vida, which means “the good life” in Spanish, has been producing Texas wine for 26 years. Owner and winemaker Dr. Bobby G. Smith has won numerous awards through the years, but his ports, made with Champercin grapes from the vineyards in Springtown, have reached cult status. The wines are released under several labels, including La Buena Vida, Scarborough Mead, Springtown, Texas Gold, and Walnut Creek Cellars.

Later you can join us as we plan to go to Esparza's
Esparza's
124 East Worth Street
Grapevine, TX 76051
817.481.4668
Esparza's Mexican Restaurant

Should I start with a Margarita or start with a swirl... Both have white wine in it, right???? lol

Famous for Tex Mex, Notorious for Margaritas” Esparza’s Restaurante Mexicano is a well known and long loved tradition that is a popular part of the downtown Grapevine experience. Just a short walk off of Main Street on E. Worth Street, the restaurant occupies a late 1800’s renovated house inside the historic district. Well known for its atmosphere, Tex Mex dishes, margaritas and local scene, Esparza’s has been offering a little something for everyone since 1985. This place and all it has to offer is hard to beat any day or night of the week.

For those that want to continue on Main after dinner... there is Willhoite's, Tolbert's, Tap Inn for music and dancing... or you can continue a wine adventure at Tastings or get a little cozy at Into the Glass.

Now that sounds like a plan to me!
