Strategy and Tabletop RPG Night

An evening spent on intense games.  This can include tabletop RPGs (Pathfinder, WoD, Shadowrun . . .) and strategy board games (Axes and Allies, Duel of Ages, Risk . . .).  One-shots, campaigns, and intense board games welcome.

We encourage people to show up early, possibly with a game in mind. From Pathfinder to Fiasco, Exalted to Labyrinth Lord, you'll be able to find other people interested in playing just about anything under the sun.  Feel free to plan games in the comments section here.

Note: Doors open at 5pm with an eye toward play starting by 7pm. We are able to open earlier as we get a feel for this new addition to the regular event schedule. Like every other open NAGA event, this is participatory, so feel free to suggest and put forward ideas.

I am interested in Pathfinder, but I have never played. Is this a good way to learn, or is this event for more experienced players?

It's a very beginner friendly event, but as of right now, I don't think anybody is running Pathfinder tomorrow (but plenty of other tabletop RPGs, including D&D). If you're interested in learning Pathfinder specifically, there are plenty of beginner friendly players who can help teach you, both here on Fridays and elsewhere.

I'd like to try to run a Numenera one-off / introduction if folks would be amenable to play.

How many people are you looking at for your table? I'd certainly be interested. There's a D&D 2nd ed running that night, so we could do the opposite of last Friday (which was mostly long board games) and have a RPG heavy evening.

Probably no more than six, preferably maxing out at five. I'll run with as little as two. It's an extremely simple, easy-to-learn system, so hopefully that will help cut down on ramp-up / complexity. I'll be bringing some pre made characters too, so no worries on that front. :D

What's the setting & back story?

You are a member of the 9th World, so named because is the ninth entire civilization to rise on Earth's surface. The story takes place billions of years in the future, where everything from your home to your tools to the very soil around d your feet is composed of the derelict detritus of civilizations that fell before. Much technology is indistinguishable from magic and worshipped as such by the people of the 9th world, and not everything left behind is a dead relic. A better description (and the most beautiful art I've ever seen in an RPG's published materials) can be found at http://www.numenera.c...
