Macro Madness!

Get out those closeup lenses. It's time for Macro Madness!

To be clear, the idea is to focus on the "little things in life." This does not mean you must have a macro-focusing lens. In fact, the kit lenses of most DSLRs do a fabulous job these days. It does mean you'll want to wear some pants that can get down and dirty, because your knees will be brown and muddy. I guarantee it!

No, we're not meeting at the crack of dawn for once. Nice for those of us who could really use some beauty rest. We'll hope for overcast skies. But, if it is really sunny, we'll practice shooting macro subjects in the shade (found or made), and then we'll splash some reflected light into the area of the shaded subject. Sound fun? Join us!    (detailed directions below)

Thanks for your patience group. We will have something on the books for May. And a big outing in June! All coming after this weekend. I've been tied up working hard to launch a creative project called http://www.alivephoto.net/ You might enjoy some of the talented photographers who have collaborated to make it.

Perhaps we should get another macro day on the books soon. Perhaps even up toward the park as April begins to bloom... What say you?

Paul, Rarity Bay would be a perfect place for dawn and lots of spring blooms, plus mountain and lake views in April, too.

      I think you're onto something...

      March 14, 2014

I can send you dawn pictures. Our parkway is lined with flowering pear trees very eager to bloom. And the lake and the mountains can be seen from many, many vantage points. We also have a resident bald eagle. But who knows if we can get him to do his thing.

Apparently I never responded in the affirmative for this event even though I put it in all my calendars. It also said originally that it was at 7 am. I guess I am losing my mind but hope to come to my first event soon.
