Parkside Orchids is happy to let us shoot at their nursery this weekend!  They are open to the public on weekends, so we are asked to not interfere with shoppers.

Thank you all for coming! I hope everyone had a great time and got some nice shots. It was nice to be inside a warm greenhouse, though I wish they had more blooms. Spring can not come soon enough!

It was nice to be inside and great to be able to move things around. My girlfriend Danielle just got her macro lens so it was good to get some practice before going out to Longwood Gardens for their Orchid Extravaganza. There are a lot of orchids there but you need to get there early to be able to use a tripod.

Many years ago I shot Miss NJ Pageant & one of the girls were holding a bouquet of flowers. I then got intrigued in shooting close-ups of roses. Flowers are quite nice to shoot.

Steve, thank you very much for sharing knowledge with me and teaching me about your macro lenses! I really enjoyed testing them out.

Don't know how to do that "Good to see you" thing, so thanks to Ryan for organizing and to all who showed up for being so friendly and helpful.

Roads are a little slick ... Everyone be careful. I expect to be a few minutes late. Ryan, I'll text you later.

Sorry I have to drop out. My sons decided to come home and ski.
I shot at Parkside. They just let me bring my stuff in and I shot for 2 hours. I love that place and orchids.
    Sorry I have to miss.

    Weather permitting will be there

It's difficult to do a bad flower shot but I manage. My attendance is dependent on two things: (1) weather, and (2) my ability to find my extension tubes.

Where are you planning on meeting?

    February 11, 2014

    • Ryan

Cheryl, I have not been here before. From looking on Google Street View, it seems that the nursery is tucked away in a residential area on some acreage. There is a red building attached to the greenhouse. We can all meet in the parking lot at 10:30 and go in together.

I've been there a few times. If you go down their driveway, the entrance is on the smaller red building, which will be on your left. My girlfriend and I are going to try to make this one.

I'm going to have to be a last minute RSVP on this one. I'll try to make it.

Sorry I will not be able to attend. Have been there in the past. This is a really fun outing and a great macro venue.
