Visit Sabino Canyon

Now should be a good time to see critters and plants in bloom. There are two options on this trip. One option is to bring a long lens and tripod to photograph the saguaro blooms and the critters that come to pollenate them. The other option is bring lens to hand hold and hike with an experienced guide to see the sites and animals in the area.

If going on the hike wear comfortable shoes. For both bring water and use sun screen.

Trying a weekday event. Hope you can make it. Remember we need 5 people to make this an official event, so please come if you can. Should be a good time.

Ned showed us a number of things I would have missed if I were exploring on my own. His knowledge of Sabino is deep.

I was at Sabino yesterday and things look good for our trip. Lots of blooming Saguaros and other cactus. The water flow in the creek has ended but there are lots of large puddles with trapped fish which attract predators. Also lots of dragonfly activity near the dam.

Sorry, just got back from Sierra Vista, Bisbee, Bisbee and more Bisbee. Couldn't hang around for another week. Even us old, retired guys have some obligations.

Looks like I will not be able to make the walk. Have a good time.

How long will the hike be, 2-3 hours or what?
Also, is the walk on flat land or will there be much climbing? I can not walk very far if there is a lot of uphill walking.

Gerry, The area is hilly so I doubt flat land. I'm sure you can leave the group at any time if you are getting tired. There will be lots of stops as interesting things to photograph are seen. I will be staying back by the saguaros the whole time.

I would if it were Saturday. I live in Flagstaff where we base our tours of the Grand Canyon, Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon from. I'll be in Tucson over the weekend, arriving Friday pm. so this trip to Sabino isn't in my schedule. I may go Saturday instead. If anyone wants to schedule for then, post here or contact me at [masked].

Jerry, thanks for responding. I'll let you know once I arrive in Tucson. Send me an email at [masked] if you would. I'll be able to contact you while on the road. Visit my site if you want to at www.gktphotos.com
