Nashville Slow Ride in May
May is Bike Month and it’s packed with a large number of bike related events (here’s the calendar). You can get involved in everything from Bike Polo to Bike Maintenance and there are always regular rides around the area. If you’re planning to take a ride of your own post it as a Meetup and invite other members to join you.
Several Nashville Slow Ride members are involved in Bike to Work Day on Friday May 17 and the Tour de Nash on Saturday. If you would be willing to lead a group from your neighborhood on Bike to Work day let me know and I’ll make sure you’re on the list. We already have 30 members attending the Tour de Nash and we’re hoping for a turnout of over a 1,000 riders.
The second annual Tennessee Bike Summit will be held in Memphis on May 22-24. Consider attending because next year the summit will be in Nashville and we want to surpass the efforts of the Memphis crew. They seem to think Memphis is the most bike friendly city in Tennessee.
I hope you’ll consider joining the local advocacy group Walk Bike Nashville that is responsible for many of these events. WBN has been actively promoting biking and walking in Nashville for fourteen years. Bike Walk Tennessee, the sponsor of the Bike Summit, is a newer organization and is coordinating efforts across the state to promote biking in Tennessee.
