Tis The Season For Giving Thanks

This holiday season let us remember those who cannot be with us. For those who serve in our Armed Forces, this cannot be even more true. There is no decision to leave behind their families and friends, their homes, their Country. There is just the decision to know that it is the right decision to sacrifice. Many now face unforseen fates, some for even the third, fourth, and even fifth times, if not more.

It is our turn to give to these heroes a chance to bring home to them. This event is a donation drive, a chance to bring various items in, where they will be collected and shipped out across the globe to various military units.

Items for donation include: snacks and baked goods (see note1 below), personal hygiene items (male and female)(see note2 below), books and magazines, paper, pens and pencils, envelopes, DVDs and VHS tapes, CDs, letters and cards, thanks and love. (Note1- baked items are allowed as long as in an air tight container ie metal tin, plastic wrap, plastic ziploc bags). (Note2- any items must be unopened with any container lids taped shut to prevent spillage).

This event will be cross posted with other meetup groups and is being advertised to the public. Tentatively, local artist Kim Archer is scheduled to perform. The great staff at 502 Downtown are also accepting donations all week. If you wish to donate financially to assist with shipping and handling, please contact Larry Bennett via Meetup. Any questions, feel free to contact Larry or the 502 Downtown Staff.

Hi everyone. Thanks for donating! What a great night. If you still wish to donate, 502 is taking donations tonight and Saturday. If you would rather meet up with me, shoot me an email. Taking donations and monetary donations as well to help with shipping. Any $$ left over will go to buy more stuff to send. Like I said, Tis the Season.

Thanks Larry, I have to drive out to Lynnwood right after work to help care for my mom and I'll be out there till Sunday. Perhaps I can help with a money donation instead. I'll send you my cell # in an email.

Quick admin note- Kim Archer is scheduled to perform at the event. Let's not forget to show some appreciation and help her out with the tip jar.

Alright everyone, this is the week :) 502 Downtown will be accepting donations beginning on Wednesday and going through the event and out through the weekend. Remember that the doors are only open beginning at 5pm.

Also would like to know if there is any interest in a dollar donation raffle to help offset the shipping. I can't put a set price for shipping yet only due to an unknown amount of donations.

Also, would like to know if anyone has any ideas for some minor decorating. I have some ideas that I will be able to arrange with 502, but more the merrier.

Thanks for the support and hope to see you soon.
