Brushy Mountain Ride- May 4, 2014

I will be heading to Brushy Mountain to check out the riding. I would like to leave GSO around 7:00 am and plan to spend the day up there. Folks can split off and ride the track and trails and meet back at common points at certain intervals. KTM is having a Spring Break Ride and test demos available. Check out their website at bmmspark.com. I will suggest a meeting location to leave from after folks rsvp to this. This is an offroad park and be sure to read the rules regarding gear, pricing, etc.

    Folks,
We had a good time. Like all rides, there are people with different skill levels and interests in riding. I hope that more folks of this group will consider a dirt only ride even on the larger bikes. They had a track and youth trail that would be great places for skills learning. Consider attending some of these rides. I am determined to learn to ride the tight stuff and if all starts with practice. This is a considerate group of riders that do not judge others but provide a willingness to help learn. More rides to be posted soon...

Next morning I said I ride, I do ironbutt rides etc, It not what bike you got it is to have fun together, and leave your messed up bike on the side, when you mess up and crash and ask your fiends to help you get your bike running. Is That wrong ? Well might be if none help. Thats true D/S. at it is

What a great day to ride. Nice to see everyone again. There is a good chance i'll go to brushy again next weekend if my chain slider comes in. I'll post up if it happens.

Another great day on the bike but then again, aren't they all? Looked for Adam with no luck. Dave, Jay, Donnie, Mark and rode together until some idiot (me) thought it would be a good idea to hit the "enduro" trail aka, the hardest one there. Donnie doesn't like the tight stuff and Jay is fighting a cold so they stayed on the main trail which proved to be a good call until Donnie's bike overheated (busted fan) and Jay called it a day due to being sick. The KTM demo was cool, had the option to ride 8 different bikes. I love my Husky and it's perfect for much of the riding I do but in the really tight woods the smaller bikes were much less work. My favorite was the XCF-W 250 with a Rekluse clutch.

After doing all of the original Enduro trail and the laps on the various KTMs Dave, Mark and I went out on the "Goat Trail". We ended up getting separated, regrouped and everyone headed home except Dave who is like the Energizer bunny and Keith who we weren't fast enough to ride with.

Great day! Good to see everyone. Y'all are more than fast enough to ride with me ( but that's not saying much)

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Finding each other might be a bit of a challenge. Please post below what vehicle and bikes to look for. As Jay mentioned we'll be in his dark blue 2000 f350 with gold stripe at bottom. He rides a KTM EXC500 and I'll be on my Husky TE511. I'll likely sign up for a demo and hopefully wait till I get one at 10 to actually hit the trails. Thankfully I know everyone except Adam and his crew. Keith, is your usual gang coming too?

Go to you tube and type in Brushy Mountain Motorsports park and watch some videos. I believe the double track trails, youth trails, and track to be a great place for practice and learning. I am also new at this so consider attending with me.
