April 6 (Sat) Adopt-A-Trail Service Outing
Gully Creek Tail, our adopted trail of the Blue Ridge Parkway is part of the Cumberland Knob Recreation Area. With the funding cuts, the National Park Service will need our help more than ever this year. It is also a great way to explore the flora and fauna of Gully Creek in all seasons. This will be the first trail maintenance of the year and will involve cleaning water bars, trimming limbs and ground cover from the trail, and maintaining the trail tread as needed. Tools will be provided. You will need to bring gloves, hiking footwear, water, lunch, and rain gear. I would expect to be back in town by 3:30 p.m. If you want more information, or have not yet signed a volunteer form, and would like to participate, please contact Henry Fansler at[masked] or [masked], or Chris Halt at[masked] or [masked].
