Elmo's and NC Hiking Book Discussion at the Regulator

Meet us for dinner at Elmo's followed by a book discussion at the Regulator (attend one or both!). Over dinner at Elmo's, learn about the Sierra Club's plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, the 30th anniversary of the NC Wilderness Act and share stories about your treks and expeditions. Then "hike" down Ninth Street to the Regulator Bookstore for a reading at 7PM by Johnny Molloy, who will be discussing his new book, Hiking North Carolina's National Forests: 50 Can't-Miss Trail Adventures in the Pisgah, Nantahala, Uwharrie, and Croatan National Forests. North Carolina's 1.2 million acres of national forestland are some of our state's most distinctive and botanically diverse areas. Molloy welcomes you to enjoy these beautiful and often surprising wild areas, guiding you safely there and back again. Molloy renders the sometimes primitive trails accessible to both beginner and more intrepid hikers, from families with small children to dedicated wilderness wanderers. Spotlighting the best hikes in all four of North Carolina's national forests--Nantahala, Pisgah, Uwharrie, and Croatan, ranging from the mountains to the coast--this book includes some of the state's most heralded destinations and invites you to explore many lesser-known gems.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
