The next public meeting on the plan revision is July 10th in Asheville. They will be talking about wildlife habitat, ecosystem diversity and integrity, and Wild and Scenic Rivers. There is going to be a presentation on Potential Additions to Wilderness.
I know it's along way away, but you can also submit comments to [masked].
If you want to submit comments, some points to consider:
• The importance of all species, not just game species and those that benefit from disturbed areas
• The effects of fragmentation -- from roads, pipelines, logging, etc.
• The need to take "quality" of the habitat -- now, with normal succession, with climate change and other threats -- into account
