Note: this is a limited space event offered by the Sierra Orange-Chatham group. To register, please register with the leader (email Jae) and he will reply as to whether there is still space along with additional information if your registration request is confirmed.
Come learn about what happens when a landfill goes through a "cap-to-closure" process while you can. Once the conversion work at the Orange County landfill is complete, you may never be able to see something like this again. Most of what is visible now will soon be covered in soil and grass. You will also learn some things about landfill / solid waste methane distribution, hydrology, groundwater monitoring, hazardous waste recycling, electronics recycling, mulching, regulations and economics, all in a 2-hour guided tour. Closed-toed, sturdy shoes are required. Hat and sun protection are advisable. Tour will be held rain or shine. Participation is by advance registration only and is limited to 14 people. We start out in a passenger van so no pets are allowed. To register, please email Jae. Confirmation and more information will be sent to you if space is still available.
All participants on Sierra Club Outings must sign a standard liability waiver.
