Gar Alperovitz is giving the keynote lecture for the sustainability track of the Society for the Anthropology of North America’s 2013 Annual Conference. Title of talk: THE EMERGING POSSIBILITY OF A NEW PATH FORWARD: THE NEXT GREAT AMERICAN PROGRESSIVE ERA

Both talks are free and open to the public.

Dr. Alperovitz is the Lionel Bauman Professor of Political Economy at the University of Maryland and cofounder of the Democracy Collaborative. He served as a legislative director in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, and as a special assistant in the Department of State.

He also helped develop the well-known Evergreen Cooperatives in Cleveland, Ohio, which are innovative projects in local job creation, community wealth creation and workplace democracy.
