Renewable Energy Seminar Series starts Thursday, Mar. 8th Join us for the kick off of this series at the NC School of Science & Mathematics - Session 1: "Why Sustainability is the Future: Energy & Climate Challenges" with slides by Sandy Smith-Nonini, PhD, Dept. of Anthropology, UNC-Chapel Hill; open to the public; please be in the lobby by 5:15 for escort to lecture hall. NCCSM is on Club Blvd, with entrance opposite intersection with Ninth St., in Durham.

This is the first in a series of 10 sessions to be held on Thursdays at 5:30, involving NCSSM professors and community speakers. Future sessions will deal with energy and electricity basics, solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, wind power, biofuels, energy policy, and more. The seminars will be filmed and developed into a distance learning course for NC high schools, as a project of CommunEcos in collaboration with NCSSM. Special thanks to Anthony Watts for coordination of seminar planning. I will post a calendar of future sessions as soon as it is finalized.

Essential oils are more than just a pretty smell! We will explore the many ways to use essential oils in your life, including Medicinal, Spiritual, and Emotional health; Household, Gardening, and Pet Care, plus methods of application, extraction & blending. Each participant will make their own 1 oz. blend and receive an e-manual of recipes and uses of the oils covered in class. Materials provided. $20 suggested donation; $10 for unemployed/students & Recyclique volunteers. 12 spaces –
