Refurbishing for reuse, and electronics recycling

Our host, Al Reynolds, Program Operations Coordinator at United Way of the Greater Triangle, will show us the Teaming for Technology facilities and tell us how T4T operates and their volunteer opportunities. Then Anand Chauhan, co-founder and current VP of American Greenz Inc, an Electronics Recycling and IT Asset Management company, will talk about electronics recycling and environmental impact.

Pizza (sponsored by NTEN & PINInc/RTPNet) and discussion starting at 6:30, program at 7:00.

We look forward to seeing you there!

NOTE: This is NOT the main United Way building.

I posted a little info about the experience using Google+ Hangouts On Air on the discussion board. That post has links to video. I extracted a few images from the video and posted them in the event's photo album. Note in particular photos of the T4T Classroom which can be used by nonprofits.

Many thanks for Al Reynolds and Anand Chauhan for their very interesting and informative presentations.

Informative. I enjoyed listening to Annud and learning about the recycling industry.

Lots of good information. Everyone who RSVPed attended (including Mary in Michigan). I apologize for the failed Hangout and the late pizza. I'll summarize problems when I have a better understanding of what was wrong.

One topic that has been suggested is Storify.com. Is anyone using it?

I tried using it but found it awkward. I'm still interested in learning to use it productively.

I'm back on Storify at last. Part of the problem was a widespread loss of people's stories: - I was one. The other (now solved) was some incompatibility with my Mac OS. It did not occur on my Linux/Ubuntu. At this stage I would not be a suitable presenter. Maybe in the future. PS Birgit is an avid Storify user. She might be willing.

If you have a copy of Beth Kanter's new book, "Measuring the Networked Nonprofit," please bring it with you. I'd like to get a few pictures of people with her book and hope someone will take my picture with my copy.

I'm going to try a Google+ Hangout on Air -- you should be able to watch it live on the NCTech4Good Google+ page. When it's over, the recording should be on that page -- https://plus.google.com/b/103332784671132086962/103332784671132086962/posts#103332784671132086962/posts You'll need a Google+ account to see it. Send me email if you see problems -- hallman at live.unc.edu. This is all new to me.

I wish I could attend this. I have actually been there as a volunteer on a couple of occasions when Al was giving a similar presentation to other groups, but I'd be very interested in hearing about American Greenz. Unfortunately I have a Cisco training course that evening.

For years I have sought this sort of group to kibbitz with. I look forward to sharing info and ideas. PS I recently learned to use Scoop.it and I love it! I'm still a newbie with it but would love to share my knowledge and enthusiasm at some future meeting.
