This is a new group (formed in January 2012) for Portland moms with toddlers who want to meet other moms for friendship and support while the little ones have playtime.

We recently moved to Portland from San Francisco and live in outer NE Portland. I'm a stay-at-home mom and although I've found lots of classes and activities here for my 18-month old daughter, its been challenging for me to connect with other mothers and start building a social network. If you have a toddler (born in 2010, let's say) and would like to get together once a week or every other week with other moms and kids in the same age range for playdates and mommy-time, then you should join this group! We can meet in each other's homes sometimes, but there's also lots of places to take the kiddos, including Indoor Park at the Community Center, library storytime, PlaydatePDX, cafes with play areas for toddlers (Jam, Munchkinland, etc.), and when it's a bit warmer, playgrounds and parks! Ideally, you're available during the mornings on weekdays, as my daughter currently takes a long mid-day nap. However, we could also do late afternoon (4pm+) and if others are interested, we could also have family events in the early evenings or on weekends sometimes. It would also be nice if you're in NE or SE Portland as far as getting to home-based playdates, but that's not a must. Most importantly, you want to meet regularly and connect with other mothers!

Before requesting membership in this group, please note 1) many of our meetups are in northeast Portland. Is it practical for you to travel to NE Portland for our meetups? and 2) I ask that members try to attend a meetup at least once a month. Are you comfortable with that level of commitment? If you aren't totally comfortable with the travel distance or meetup frequency, you may want to look for a group that's a better fit for you.
