LOCATION CHANGED! White Rock Creek Trailhead (N Dallas, near 635 & Hillcrest)

  • This location is shown only to members

PLEASE NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE!!  The old location was  too hilly and difficult, so we found another trail. Thanks, Doug for scouting the location!

We will start at White Rock Creek Trailhead at Valley View Park (13000 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX - meet at the pavillion hear the second parking lot east of Hillcrest) and ride until we feel like stopping. This trail runs all the way to White Rock Lake and is mostly level and less populated than the around-the-lake path. Great for distance riders (from the trailhead to the WR dam is about 10 miles) and beginners alike!

A free how-to-ride class is  available before the ride - UPON REQUEST. Contact Elise if you're interested in the class!

Super fun! Nice path and nice people. All strong riders and we did about 11 miles before dark. Special thanks to Elise for the meeting setup and a hello to Roger as well.. This ride was a blast, if you didn't make it - see ya next time! Doug

Hey, Doug! Ain't no pro, yo, but I can sho' show you a thing or two (you're cool with sight rhyme, yes? Whew. Hate to think I'd made an enemy before we even met... ;) ) However, I didn't see your message in time to make it down there very early... I should be there around 6:40-6:45 and can talk you through a couple of sweet maneuvers while getting geared up. Better'n nothin', I hope. Tonight we can set up a time for more training.

Hey, since I've never had a formal lesson, it might be cool to hear what the pros are doing. Always willing to pick up new tricks :)

    Summary:
Arbor Hills is mostly steep hills, and rapid descents, which would be dangerous for most beginners. It is a short course, but it makes up for that in difficulty level. I think this course would be fun, if the path was at least 12 wide, so you could control your speed on the descents, but they're barely 8 ft, and there are a lot of walkers and runners. Honestly, its not my bag baby (Austin Powers) - cause after the hard ride up, I had to BRAKE the whole way down, (bummer) and that's just not fun; besides, I didn't want to crash into a runner or baby carriage, yes folks were walking their kids on these hills. I did see a few bicyclists, but I ended up passing all of them on my Trikke because they were walking their bikes, that's right, walked. - Doug

My pleasure! Experienced trikkers might find these hills a great challenge, but guess you have me pegged; I'm a speed junkie! I am looking forward to meeting everyone!
