discussion group idea - NEED FEEDBACK

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • I am interested in hosting - either at my place OR a coffee shop - a discussion group on varying topics - dating, religion, sex, work, spirituality, dealing with aging parents, or WHATEVER sparks your fancy. Just want to throw out the "intrigue bone" before posting a "dud" event

Meg has been hosting this and will be updating info for the next one soon

If you're still looking for a venue, I'd recommend a library meeting room - Redmond library is good, or Greenlake. I used to host these in Portland.....always a good time!

In Snohomish we have a reasonably priced and cozy restaurant called Collector's Choice. I know the owner well. They have a large side room that can be walled off with nice big windows, lots of tables and chairs, and away from the rest of the restaurant enough to be able to have a great discussion. The coffee is great and so is the food and service. It would be a perfect place to meet for our discussions.

The 26th works for me as well as Third Place Books. Let's make this happen.

I vote for third place books -- it's really comfortable for meeting, great food/coffee, large enough to hold a group and not take over the whole place. I'd be willing to try a Saturday morning group -- can't this weekend, but thinking ahead, to like 10/26/2013 at 9:30 ?? Does that work for folks ??

still too many choices - -- keeps conversation going about the place. - - - - I do not know any of the places - Jan suggested - - - So Jan just pick one - - - Third place books is close to me - - while Edmonds is just fine. oh, set a date and time - - - -

Cafe Louvre or Red Twig Cafe, Edmonds or Third Place Books, Lake Forest Park. They each seem to have ample seating and great coffee, good customer relations, etc

It has been over a month and no one has picked a place or time. Lets get with it and make something happen.

This is a really good idea. Who doesn't like a good discussion? Any intelligent discussion that doesn't involve the Kardshians or Jersey Shore makes me happy.

This all sounds really interesting..it would be great to meet up with folks of both genders and various ages to learn how they deal with the usual issues of everyday life in this modern world setting.

I love this idea..a big group communication fest! ;) So keep it fun and simple..I wouldn't pair it with anything too much other than a place that offers a variety of drink like good coffee...craft beers..wine..teas..sodas..ect. and decent food. Snohomish, Everett, Mukilteo...We could do a potluck or if we do it soon we can get in on all this gorgeous weather and maybe just do a. "Picnic and group discussion under the cover at Mukilteo..then maybe a firepit and music after? If it starts early enough then there would still be time to continue on with an added outing for those who would like to go with the flow.
Just a thought...I haven't been to anything ..yet ;) but I'm down for this!

I love planning events and parties etc... I currently work nights but have Thursday off every week. Count me in if Thursday (any time of day or night) works for everyone.

I'd definitely be interested. A possible venue is Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park. It's almost always possible to get one of the big tables.

this sounds neat. interesting. if i don't have to spend a lot of money and it's not too far to drive i'd check my schedule. does everyone have to hug before and after so we don't fight?

Why not meld this with another event? I'd love to host something like this... I generally vary my topics at my poker parties that I have at my house, I'd actually like to have one either this saturday 9.15 or next sat 9.22
