Meet at the Brewhouse Pub in Kent. Bring a blanket for the homeless.

The owner of Brewhouse Pub in Kent, (friend of Member Steve M)

has opened his bar up to us

Friday, Jan 4  starting at 6pm.

He will provide free pizza and music.

As the college kids come downtown around 10 or 11...we will have the place mostly to ourselves til then.

I am asking, if you want, to bring a blanket, warm socks or $$ to donate for our local homeless shelter.  (this is optional)

Thanks to everyone. One of the best happy hours and more....would love to do it again. Didn't expect to dance! Thanks to Jimmy for providing the food and entertainment. And it's all for a great cause! I love Barb's idea of doing a volunteer event this year at Freedom House.

    Great Event!!
I just got back from meeting the wonderful residents & staff at the Freedom House in Kent.
Thanks to all of you, I dropped off over 40 blankets! While there I asked what they needed the most and their #1 answer was gas cards.
I left & drove to Speedway & since you all also donated $183, I was able to buy 7- $25 gas cards & spent the other $8 on 2 bottles of Pepsi & 2 bags of chips.
They were all very excited & appreciative!!
They run a lawn mowing service, to earn money to keep going, and are loooking for a riding mower, trailer and a 4x4 truck..along with the day to day supplies for the home. (food, paper & cleaning products.)
I would like to do something monthly for them, & even give them a Saturday this spring/summer to help out.
Their bldg is attached to The Miller House, that is a homeless shelter for all men and woman. Freedon House will share the bankets with them.
I love this group!! Thanks everyone!!

The size of the place was excellent for our group, we were able to mingle, dance and enjoy ourselves. If it could be arranged, do the Brewhouse the first Friday of every other month. Doing it every month would get stale, but every other month would be a good thing and would surely bring in more members. Sure would like anyones thoughts on this.

We also collected enough money to pay our dues for a year with a little extra to cover the cost of the name tags, printer ink and paper for attendande sheets.
Looking forward to another year of fun and friends!!
(fyi.. I am going to send out an email with this info and the Freedom House info so all members get the information.)

And thanks to Steve M anfd Jimmy, the owner of the Brewhouse! I think we all agree this was one of our best Meetups!! We had great people there, nice place, music, dancing, food provided and had room to all move around and mingle. (With a lg group we are not always able to mingle as we did last night.)
    So thanks Steve!!
Also thanks to Joanne for the nice pics!

Coming from a military family, I'd like to see the Kent Veterans become our philanthropy.

This venue was particularly good because there was more to do. Pool table and music for dancing lent an active and varied tone to the gathering. Good choice!

Directions to the Brewhouse and parking: The Brewhouse is located on Water St, between Main St and the new Crain Ave Bridge. It is north of the main, downtown intersection in Kent (Main St (59) and Water St (43). It has a 1/2 rounded, small awning over the door with their name on it. It is beside an old, large mill.
There may be parking available along the street or there is a large, free parking lot off Columbus St. This street is across the street from the Mill. (not too far, maybe have to walk about a block.)

I spoke with a place called The Freedom House today. They are a 14 bed homeless shelter for Veterans in Kent. I plan to take the blankets we collect there and spend any $$ we collect to buy needed supplies: cleaning, paper products. I plan to drop them off next week and hope to learn more about them and would like to do more to help them in the future. I will update you all when I talk to them again. (Donating is optional.) Thanks!

I am going through boxes. This is a great motivator for downsizing & feeling great about the items going to a good cause! See you Friday!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
