Thanks for the mini contingent of NEO Hiking folks that made Cleveland stand proud during the second annual Buckeye TrailFest! I am sad that it is over. I posted some fun pics here - http://tiny.cc/kbt9vw ... thanks for making me laugh with those Cinci boys at the campsite and realizing that Betsy and Wade really do know their maps! Holden was wonderful and that gorge was special too.

The guidebooks are ready, John Rethman and backpackers are on trail, and Scallion and Captain Blue are somewhere north of Peninsula. Keep an eye on our photo album ... here are a few shots from a slack packing day in Massillon, CLE, and Akron.

If you decide on TrailFest, I will try and bring you a key lime and a Corona so you don't seem disappointed in your second choice!

I offered to volunteer a few months back and never heard back. Has anyone else been contacted?

    April 17, 2013

    • Maria Z

Hi Kathy - Sorry that no one ever contacted you. I first posted a volunteer contact way back on January 30 (see below). Did you happen to reach out to Debbie because I'm sure we can definitely use you. Let me know what you're most interested in doing, or maybe we can use you as a floater. What days?

I posted seven photos from our send-off hike with Mike "Scallion" Fanelli. The hike took place on Monday in Harrison County, near the BTA barn and Tappan Lake. The remaining photos were taken of Red Oak Camp in Kirtland, where Buckeye TrailFest will take place April 25-28. You can view the photos here: http://tiny.cc/a74mvw

Our next backpacker is ready to head north to Buckeye TrailFest! Mike "Scallion" Fanelli is leaving the Buckeye Trail barn at 9 a.m. Monday morning, April 15. I will be there to send off Mike with a group of hikers from Harrison County. All of this will be covered by a local reporter, so come on out and join us. I am heading there tonight and preparing for the hike on Monday. We will be hiking 10-15 miles along the Buckeye Trail. E-mail me if you're interested.

Hey Kathy! Long time no hear. Would love to see you. I just sent out an e-mail about pre-registration. It ends at midnight Friday, April 12, if you can get it in. The price may go up if you have to pay at the door and it's a great price with the free membership.

Captain Blue is our first backpacker to Buckeye TrailFest and has begun his trek to the northeast! He left Cincinnati on April 4 and will be hiking 335 miles along the Ohio to Erie Trail. From there, he will make his arrival to Cleveland and then onto Kirtland ...

You can follow along on his blog here - http://outdooradventureconnection.com/blog.php

Hope to see you all at Buckeye TrailFest in 3 weeks!

Hi everyone - We are looking for someone who can donate beer to the wine and cheese reception. The wine is being donated but we can't find any breweries that are willing to pony up "a pony keg." Any thoughts or ideas? Our non-profit has limited funds unfortunately :(

    April 3, 2013

    • Brad

See if one of the local brew-your-own places will make a batch and donate it. It would be great advertising for them!

Keeping an eye on the clock .... $5.00 off registration ends at midnight tonight ... sweet deal on a BTA membership too.

Support the trail you hike on (every day) ... great group of volunteers who sweat and toil to maintain 1,444 miles of trail.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
