Perkins & Riding Run Trails - CVNP

We'll meet at the Everett Rd Covered Bridge Parking Lot at 10:30 a.m & hike approx. 6 miles with the outer loop.  *Please do not use the public directory or NPS address for Maps or GPS as you will end up on the wrong side of the river with no parking lot. The parking lot is near 2247 Everett Rd on the section north of the covered bridge that you can access ½ mile west of Riverview Rd.

This is a rugged trail with chunky and heavily-rooted sections as well as shallow stream crossings and mud or loose surfaces. Expect a moderate to strenuous hike due to frequent elevation changes including steep (short or lengthy) ups & downs dispersed with more gradual slopes.  In addition, we typically hike at a fairly brisk pace (approximately 3+ mph) which could increase the level of difficulty for some... A light variety in scenery includes hills, ravines, streams, pine trees, field, and both wide and narrow winding trail.  (Expect mud. :-)

*If you arrive after we've started hiking and would like to catch up, we'll be traveling counter-clockwise starting with Riding Run.

*Please check the maps below.  (& print a copy of the trail map to carry if you'd like to explore the trail at your own pace).

See you there!

Dressing in layers is best. You want to be warm... but also be able to remove outerwear if you start to feel too warm. If this is your first hike, I'd be concerned with proper footwear. You'll need good traction.
