Kentucky Derby Hike and Potluck!

Calling all horse racing fans!  Please join us on Sat., May 4th at Beartown Lakes Reservation 18870 Quinn Rd. (Chagrin Falls) [masked] to hike, eat and watch the Kentucky Derby.

The event will start with an easy 1.5 mile hike through the woods of Beartown.  The hike will start promptly at 5:00PM.  After the hike, we will enjoy a potluck dinner.  Please bring a dish of your choice to share.

We will be showing the actual Kentucky Derby race when it begins at 6:24PM.  This will be shown in the pavilion.  Now will be the time to cheer on your favorite horse!

Following along with the Kentucky Derby Theme, awards will be given for the best Kentucky derby Hat.  The contest will consist of the most original hat, largest hat, funniest hat, and the most colorful.  Each person will have a chance to vote for their favorite hat in each catagory.  Be creative with your hats.  The bigger, the brighter, the better!

After the derby, plan to stick around for dancing! :-)

BYOB if you like! (Mint Juleps perhaps?)

This event sponsored by Laura,(Stow) and Sharon G.

Laura and I would like to thank everyone who attended as a great time was had by all and all of the food was awesome. Thanks to our committee...Aaron, Sean and Steve for the games, contest and tv!

Wade-Good trick leaving a greasy baking dish. Yes I did wash and return it to you on the next hike.

Bob-I didn't see a black and red cooler. It is possible that someone else picked in up instead.

Wendy I didn't see an award but maybe Aaron could order you a new one.

I do have misc. spoons , cups, that I will bring on the next hike to find its owners.

BYW: the Stereo is working....I think we tuckered it out! Give us a suggestion for the next Themed event and I think that you could easily talk Laura and I organizing another happening.

Hey Sharon. Stupidly, I left my sunglasses, hat and water bottle. I only really care about the sunglasses. I'm on the road the next three Tuesdays but you can give them to Aaron, if you have them of course. If not, I'll live! Thanks for organizing; it was a lot of fun.

Is this a dog friendly event? I'd like to bring my little dog - Mr. Jack Charles Blessing - with me, especially for the hike. Please let me know.

Also, I may be late since I am working that day as well. It all depends if I get out of work on time.

    Thanks,

    Gordon

If you count the time it takes for the horses to get loaded in the stalls it's about 10 minutes. The race is maybe 3.

Sharon and Laura I have the Recipes for Mint Juleps.
I would also like to put together a random wagering
on the race. We can split the profits with the house
    to reduce your expenses.

The gambling portion of the event has been delegated to Aaron. We will be using play money, fun gambling for awesome prizes. Remember the coveted golden boot.
