Hike for the Sole or Hike for the Soul

For those of you who are intested in the 6.5 mile Hike for the Sole, we will be hiking at the usual brisk pace on the Lakeside and Crosscountry Trails for approximately 3 miles and then we will take the Salt Run Trail for another 3.4 miles. This is rated a moderate to difficult hike due to the length and the number of hills on the second half of the trial.

If you are not familiar with these trails and/or are attending this hike for the first time, it is recommended that you print a copy of the trials which can be found on the website that is attached below.

For those of you who will be attending the Hike for the Soul, this hike will be at a relaxed much slower pace using the Crosscountry Trail and the Lake Trail for an approximately 3 mile hike. Imagine having time to stop and smell the roses!

The first part of the hike I would like to have a social time with each person discussing and sharing their religious and/or spiritual beliefs and experiences to help encourage open-mindedness and acceptance.  I would then like to take some time hiking silently allowing our minds to quiet to prepare us for a short barefoot walking meditation (you can wear shoes if you do not want to go barefoot).  We will then finish the hike at a regular pace and meet at the shelter or sit by the lake, depending on the weather, and have a short meditation.  If so inspired, we can take turns and share our days experience, thoughts, or questions that you may have before heading back to our cars.

For both hikes:  Lunch at Fisher's or Rosewood Grill to follow at approximately 4:00

* Bring something waterproof to sit on in case the ground is damp.  I find plastic grocery bags work great and can be folded up to fit in your pocket!

Sorry couldn't make it - feeding my soul in the Adirondacks. Looking forward to another hike for the soul at home.

Best hike that I've ever done. Great concept to stimulate the mind as well as the body. There was a greater feeling of friendship and connection, at least for me. Donna showed excellent leadership. She should be the CEO of a fortune 500 company.
