Buckeye & Deer Run Trails - CVNP

We'll meet at the Ira Rd. Trailhead (~3947 Riverview Rd.), just north of Ira Rd., at 10:30 a.m. and hike the Buckeye Trail to the Deer Run Trail Loop and back at a brisk pace for approximately 6 miles--which is usually a decent workout. The Park Service rates these as difficult trails… I imagine due to a few steep inclines, rugged trail surfaces, and stairs. (Restrooms are available at the trailhead & again at about the 4-mile point).

[From the BT website: This section of the Buckeye Trail follows the western edge of the valley between O'Neil Woods and Ira Road along the Cuyahoga Falls-Bath Township border… The trail crosses a plateau as it winds past giant beech trees and skirts ravines that drop 200 feet to what was once the 238-acre Sherman and Mary Schumacher farm off Riverview Road. It is an otherwise undeveloped and wild corner of the park. It is a trail that gets virtually no traffic, despite its beauty.]

If you arrive after we've started hiking and would like to catch up, we'll be traveling south on the Buckeye Trail from Ira Road.  Follow the blue blazes.

*Please check the maps below... And, as always, hike at your own risk.

See you there!

My pleasure. If you look to invest in a set, those were the Black Diamond Distance FL Z poles. They go by size according to height. Mine are 120cm poles. Now to dry off :-)

Lynn, There is no requirement for how much of the trail you hike! You may do whatever portion of it you would like. :-) (But you might have plenty of time to make your appointment as the entire distance would take less than two hours).
