$3 Train Ride and 5 Mile Buckeye Trail Hike-Back - Moderate

Intermediate to Advanced - Hike Aboard! Climb aboard Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad for a one-way ride followed by a challenging 5-mile hike back along the hilly, unpaved Buckeye Trail to our cars. Fee: $3 per hiker – payable on the train. Train leaves promptly from Peninsula Depot at 10:50AM.  Parking by the TowPath trails. Please allow yourself time to find parking - suggested time to arrive 10:30 to 10:45AM.

This is an intermediate, winter hike - depending upon speed, elevations, steps, and mud/snow/ice terrain on any given day.  Please make sure you have treads on your boots, and good ankle support, and layers.  Bring water and a trail snack.

This hike is sponsored by the CVNP Service.  CVNP Ranger Pamela will be leading the hike.  CVNP is good about getting a 10 minute break(s) in the middle of the hike back to Peninsula Depot Station.

If you are new to this hiking group, please let me know so we can look for you, and include you.  There will be 25+ hikers that are not members of our group.  We want to make sure you feel welcomed!  Questions/Text to cell -[masked]

1:00PM - Optional Restaurant  - Winking Lizard after the hike.  Reservations will not be made - but hopefully we can find each other and share a meal.

Sorry to miss this. It's not the season or the hour but the loss of a loved one that prevents me from joining today. back on the trail soon enough.

We have 60+ people attending between 2 meetup groups. :) For those that are new please introduce yourself to me - so we can introduce you to others in the group. Forecast is 16 degrees with 10mph wind. Remember - Layers, Ear Muffs, Leg Warmers. For those ladies (and men too - I suppose) that don't have leg warmers - an old pair of stockings will do well to keep your legs warm. For new people to find me - I'll be wearing a tan jacket, brown cap, ear muffs, mittens, and scarf.
