Intermediate Hike. We leave promptly at 6:30 PM.
Trail: We'll head toward the bridge over the creek and make our way back towards Chippewa Dr. hiking in the creek bed. We'll walk up the creek as far as we can comfortably go (meaning we won't try to climb boulders, but we will pass through some challenging parts of the creek), then double back to reach an easy exit point. There, we'll pick up a trail to take us back toward the bridge where John will take us back onto our more usual trails.
Rating: Intermediate due to the challenges inherent in creek walking, then hills, speed, uneven terrain, and wet / muddy conditions when we are back on land. You must be able to manage slippery and/or difficult conditions to participate in this hike. Creek hikes require focus and careful attention to what you are doing in order to avoid injury.
As always, hike at your own risk.
Distance: 4+ miles.
Speed: 3.4 mph, 18 minutes per mile on land, slower in the creek due to the need to be very mindful of your steps
Footwear: Water shoes, hiking sandals or Five Fingers are recommended. Water levels will be too high to keep water out of waterproof hiking boots.
Dogs: Leashed dogs are welcome - please keep them away from legs of other hikers.
