This will be a joint hike with the Central Ohio Hikers and Backpackers.
We'll start at the Pleasant Hill Dam and hike through to the Covered Bridge. We'll then take the Hog Hollow Trail to the Fire Tower. After climbing the tower, we'll head over the hill and up the snowmobile trail, descend to the streambed, cross the south entrance road and continue past the cabins. We'll cross the Mohican River and follow it to the Hemlock Gorge trail, which we will take back to the Covered Bridge. Then, we'll take the trail to the Lyon Falls and then back to the dam.
The total distance for this hike should be around 12 miles. This is a moderate hike, so be prepared to feel a little burn. You'll want to be sure to have good hiking shoes or boots. This hike should take approximately 5 - 6 hours to complete. Be sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and dress according to the weather. We'll hike rain or shine. Please do not attempt this hike if you have not completed similar hikes in the past. We will be moving at a 2.5 to 3.0 mph pace in between our stops. It's not fair to the rest of the hikers to wait for someone that can not keep up. Although we will do our best to accommodate every hiker, you are ultimately responsible for yourself.
After the hike, we'll enjoy a post hike meal at a the Mohican Tavern: 267 West Main Street, Loudonville, OH 44842
