We would like to thank you all for decorating trees in Cleveland Metroparks
Holiday Tree Decorating Contest at the Chalet. I would like to announce the
Northeast Ohio Hiking Club took first place, Girl Scout Troop #1232 took
second place and Kidder Elementary K-kids took third place. I wanted to let
you all know, if you did not place in the top three - we will still mail you
a 4-pack of passes.
Enjoy the holidays and thanks again for your continued support. The
retirement homes we excited and very thankful for having the trees delivered
to their locations - a nice way to spread the holiday cheer.
Thanks to everyone for participating in the "Holiday Tree
Decorating" Contest. We have a total of 16 trees...good luck to everyone.
The trees will be picked up Thursday morning and will be setup Friday
morning....feel free to start set up anytime after 10am on Friday...if you
have any questions, you can call the Chalet at[masked] or call me.
Also, with all the rain this past weekend, I recommend old
shoes or boots - the ground will be very soggy!
Here are the rules again:
Trees need to be setup by Friday, December 2 by 6 p.m.
(unelss you've made arrangements for another time). The trees will be on
display from December 2 thru December 18. Schools should encourage
students, family and friends to vote for their tree. Ballots will be
available at the Chalet. Voting ends on December 18 and the school with the
most votes will win the private tobogganing party. The winning school will
be announced on December 19. I'm pleased to announce that after the
competition, all the trees will be donated to various retireent centers!
The rules for the contest are:
* Cleveland Metroparks will provide a tree - thanks to Home Depot.
* Cleveland Metroparks will have the trees secured to a stake when you
arrive and a sign by your tree.
* No electrical lights or devices may be used in decorating the tree.
* Each school must incorporate their school name and Cleveland
Metroparks logo on the tree.
* Decorations will be exposed to various weather conditions, as well
as birds, squirrels and other park visitors. Cleveland Metroparks is not
responsible for any damage to or stolen items from the trees.
Winning school receives a private toboggaing party at the
Chalet for up to 50 people, includes 50 toboggan passes, 50 hot dogs, chips
and drinks. Prizes will be awarded to second and third place, too!

Hikers Unite! Short hikes, long hikes, easy hikes, moderate hikes, strenuous hikes, kid friendly hikes and dog friendly hikes! The mission is to provide a variety of hikes for hikers of all abilities to get together, enjoy nature and perhaps burn off a few calories in the process.
All hikers participate at their own risk. Hiking should always be within your comfort and skill level.
