Deer Creek Reservoir

Join Ken and Cheryl for a fall paddle at Deer Creek Reservoir. We will be on the water about 3 hours and cover 4-5 miles. Meet at 1:00 pm at the parking area with boat ramp which is located on Price Street very close to the dam.

This lake is an Alliance, Oh city water reservoir and the area is now managed as a Stark County park (see StarkParks.com). The lake has a nice wooded shoreline. We might still spot some migratory birds along with some local osprey and eagles.

Directions: Deer Creek Reservoir is about 5 miles north of Alliance, Oh. The simplest way to get there would be from the intersection of State Route 225 and Price Street. This is close to the small air field Barber Airport. I think there is a small brown sign at the intersection pointing to Deer Creek. Follow Price Street west about 2 miles. You will see the dam and just beyond on the left is the road to the boat ramp and parking area. This is easy to see.

The Bald Eagle was icing on the cake. I would have stayed out longer if we didn't have to work so hard against the wind but the calm sections were nice and I was ready to eat!

Windy. But hardly a cloud, a few ducks that helped lead me back to the start area. And Several flying around. No other creatures...not even a mouse.

Just showed the information to Tim and he seems to think we should be able to find this place pretty easy. It will take us over an hour to get there. Thanks for the cell number. Look forward to meeting you all tomorrow.

What I meant to say, Dougyy is I can put my kayak inside the van and we can carry yours on top. Hope you find your rack though!

Anyone have any extra kayaks if I were to come or even bring a guest? Lemme know. Thanks! :)

I THINK so. A guy from work is supposed to text me tomorrow with whether or not he can go paddling. We had planned on going to Nesmith Lake and the Erie canal but if he's not going to make it (VERY strong chance based on his past reliability) then I'll be there. Will let you know for sure tomorrow.

I would hate to miss this opportunity on Sunday. I hope my husband's schedule will allow us to attend this event. I am not sure where Deer Creek Reservoir is located so I may need directions by Sunday Morning. Exciting!!!
