NEOK is a group founded Feb 11th 2011, by Doug Macduff of Columbiana, Ohio. Doug, along with a handful of members, started the ball rolling by being friendly and outgoing to everyone who joined. We have tried to carry that forward for the past almost 5 years. That approach seems to have worked, as we have enjoyed solid membership growth and formed many new friendships.
Northeast Ohio Kayakers, known as NEOK (nee'-ok), offers paddling events that are fun and social, to be enjoyed by enthusiasts of all backgrounds and abilities. Flat water kayaking and canoeing are some of the fastest-growing sports in Northeast Ohio and the U.S.While most of our paddles are geared toward boat owners, we do offer a few paddles each season where rentals are available.
Our group provides a common ground for sharing information, paddling tips, and the safe enjoyment of the sport. Since NEOK was formed in February 2011, the work of co-organizers and members has enabled over 400 kayakersand canoeists to enjoy the benefits of this paddling club.
Sea kaykers, river runners and canoeists are all welcome to join in the fun. Activities have included trips on several rivers, including the Upper, Middle and Lower Cuyahoga, the Chagrin, Rocky River, Mohican, Black River, Vermilon, and the Tuscarawas. We have also paddled East Branch Reservoir, LaDue, Mogadore, Wingloot Lake, Portage Lakes, and others. Please visit our photo albums to see the wide variety of paddling adventures we have enjoyed with our members.
