NEOK (Northeast Ohio Kayakers) is a group founded Feb 11, 2010, by Doug Macduff of Columbiana, Ohio, Vic Roth of Dover, and Scott Napier of Massillon. Doug, along with these 2 members, encouraged new members by their friendliness to everyone who joined the group. We have tried to carry that tradition forward for the past 6 years. NEOK has enjoyed solid membership growth and many new friendships have originated within our club.
Northeast Ohio Kayakers, known as NEOK (nee'-ahk), offers paddling events that are fun and social, to be enjoyed by enthusiasts of all backgrounds and abilities. Flat water kayaking and canoeing are some of the fastest-growing sports in Northeast Ohio and the U.S.While most of our paddles are geared toward boat owners, we do offer a few paddles each season where rentals are available.
Our group provides a common ground for sharing information, paddling tips, socializing, and the safe enjoyment of the sport. We like to keep members informed about water safety classes and other educational offerings. Since NEOK was formed, the volunteer work of Organizers and members alike has encouraged over 400 paddlers to enjoy the benefits of this paddling club.
River lovers, sea kayakers, and canoeists are all welcome to join in the fun. Paddling adventures have included trips on several rivers, including the Upper, Middle and Lower Cuyahoga, the Chagrin, Grand, Rocky River, Mohican, Black River, Vermilon, and Tuscarawas. We have also paddled East Branch Reservoir, LaDue, Mogadore, Wingloot Lake, Portage Lakes, and others. Please visit our photo albums to see the wide variety of paddling adventures we have enjoyed each season.
Although we watch out for each other on the water, everyone is responsible for his/her own safety. By joining this group, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree with the terms of our Waiver of Risks/Liability form, located under the Pages tab. There are inherent risks associated with kayaking/canoeing. The Organizers of this group are not liable for any injury or property damage you may sustain on one of our paddles.
