Snowshoe/Hike to interesting sites off the trail. This will be a moderate guided hike including some hills. This hike will include a visit to three news bridges decked in 2013. Last-minute decision to join you guys. I'm coming from Montrose - I ought to be there on time.

Sorry I'm not feeling well this morning and think it would be best for me to sit this one out.

Whoa! DST starts tomorrow, glad I noticed that - don't want to be late again.

The trail is partially snow-covered and the ramp From Frank's Place down to the trail is a bit icy. Snowshoes won't be necessary but if you have yaktraks or cramp-on it would help. Also poles are a good idea. It sounds like the weather will be perfect for a winter hike! Please let me know if you have any question.

The hike will be about 2 hrs long, not sure of the distance because the route will be determined by the changing snow conditions. Well behave dogs on leash are welcome!

The group is meeting at the restaurant? Would we be parking in their lot?

I would use crampons or snowshoes...it's a bit icy. Hiking poles would help. Yes we will meet in Frank's parking lot.

About how long is the hike? And are four legged friends allowed?

That was known as the Northwest Junction of the NY O&W Railroad. There are some interesting remains in that area. Nearby are 12 concrete piers but I have not yet identified them. It appears to be an old transfer station for the D&H. http://www.nepaview.com/ow-northwest-junction.html

These are the bridge piers of an O&W Railroad spur that connected mine sites on the east side of the Lackawanna River to breakers on the west side (thus Northwest Junction). It will be part of hike.

There are quite a few remains after the switchback including an old coal scale. The D&H also had a connection to this junction but maps indicate part of it is developed now.
