Freelance IT professional w/ hands-on system development skills and Japanese language and cultural fluency. Interests include computer science--functional programming languages in particular, DevOps, IT security, mobile application development, math, etc.
I've been interested in start-ups and entrepreneurship ever since I read Paul Graham's essay Beating the Averages (http://www.paulgraham.com/avg.html). Over the years I've sustained my interest and learned a thing or two by joining w/ like-minded people for informal gatherings and meetups. I'm also newly relocated to the area and have been looking for networking opportunities w/ folks who share my interests.
It's always great to hear from people who've taken the plunge; whether they've succeeded or not is less important than what we can learn from their experiences.
Not any time soon, I'm afraid.
I'd certainly like to do my part to contribute; however, at the moment I'm already over-committed. Ask me again in six months...
Jack-of-all-trades in the IT space w/ over a decade of projects under my belt: I've logged experience both overseas in Japan and here in the US. Currently finishing up an undergrad degree in CS, which I'm pursuing online (U of Maryland).
