Join the Northeast Pilots Group for a new winter fly-in experience. While the city is best known for its summer attraction, the historic Saratoga Racetrack, it also has a lot to offer during the winter months. Fly into 5B2 and join us as we sample Saratoga Springs' best chowder at only $1 per cup during the 2012 Chowder Festival! Over 67 local businesses will be serving their very own chowder recipe. Vote for the best chowder in town and enjoy beautiful downtown Saratoga Springs.
Plan on arriving at the Saratoga County Airport (5B2) by 11am. Park at the tiedowns near the old "Richmor Aviation" buiding, which is currently the maintenance hangar. It is located near the rotating beacon. There are no parking or landing fees if you just come for the day. Before you fly home, be sure to taxi over to North American Flight Services and patronize the FBO's self-service pump to save money on fuel. Reference this map for exact parking location. Local NEPG members Joel Glickman and Phylise Banner will offer a shuttle service from the airport to downtown Saratoga, but we will only be able to shuttle a limited number of participants from the airport (about 12 people). Beyond that, you are certainly welcome, but you will have to arrange for your own ground transportation from the airport. For those who get to take advantage of our free shuttle service, you should arrive promptly at 10am. If you arrive later and cannot find anyone at the airport, just dial up a cab and they will take you downtown. When you wish to leave the Chowder Festival and head back to the airport, contact Saratoga Express Taxi at (518)[masked] or CapitalLand Taxi at (518) 583-3131. Your best bet is to get a group of 6 together to save a few bucks. The fare is $12 for the trip plus $2 extra per extra person, so it would be $22 for 6 people.
