Enjoyed finally getting to see the MK802 Android Mini-PC which Jay brought. And Eric's presentation about the Raspberry Pi running PID loop to control brew brewing was very exciting!

Very interesting to see what other people are using for their electronics project.

I still don't have one. I ordered mine back in April, and received a note early last week from the company saying it was delayed again for another 3-4 weeks. Is it worth it for me to come to this?

You definitely don't need to have a Pi to come! It's also "Not Exclusively Raspberry Pi" so feel free to bring along any other embedded systems you fancy.

Q: "I borrowed a Pi from a friend. Do I need to bring a USB cable or anything else besides the SD card and a laptop to get it running?"

A: There are cables, adapters , etc. required, but we'll have a sample setup for burning and testing.

fyi - if you don't have a Pi, and you'd like one for the next meeting, check out MCM Electronics as they have in stock: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/83-14277 (I ordered Tues night and it's arriving today)

I've got Wifi working great at home with the edimax wifi dongle. I was wondering if anyone has had luck adding multiple SSID/auths? What is the internet access like at PS1? Would like to be ready to roll when I get there.

I've got some great stuff running with Phidgets, Pi and Python. Excited to see what everyone else has been working on!

Look at the wicd network manager. Apt-get install, etc. We also have several ethernet jacks available.

If you want to set up your new Raspbery Pi from scratch, don't forget to bring an sd card (the big size, not micro) to hold the disk image. See http://elinux.org/RPi_VerifiedPeripherals#SD_cards for the list of working and problem cards. Most of the cheap ones sold at the registers at Microcenter work fine. Also, download the disk image to your laptop in advance; it's a large file. Get it at http://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-raspberry-pi-educational-linux-distro/occidentalis-v0-dot-2 . New user setup is 6pm-7pm and (probably) after the meeting. Please tell someone that you want to do a setup so we know what you need! -Ed

FYI - Rob from Raspberry Pi Foundation (http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1792) contacted PS1 about visiting on Sunday, Sept 16, or Monday, Sept 17, as he will be coming through town. I'm waiting for a reply from him and will post more details when known.

That would be truly excellent. I hope he can make it!

Just found out from Rob that he won't be able to make it on this current trip. He said they would like to do a tour for the Midwest in the future.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
