Salmon Falls River from Hilton Park

You will be able to RSVP for this event 2 weeks prior on June 9th at 11am

High Tide at the Salmon Falls - 1:00 pm.

This is a Level 2+ event open to Sea Kayaks and 12ft+ Rec Kayaks with bulkheads. See the link on the http://www.meetup.com/NESeacoastPaddlers/about/ About page for information on Kayak Skill Levels High Tide at the mouth of the Salmon Falls River is 11am We will depart Hilton Park and paddle with the flood tide up the Piscataqua River to the Salmon Falls, then up the scenic and lightly developed Salmon Falls River to the Dam in South Berwick Maine. Along the way, we will pass the historic Hamilton House, the Great Works Dam, and Vaughan Woods State Park. We will stop and take a break at the South Berwick landing while we wait for the tide to turn, and then we will paddle back to Hilton Park with the ebb. The total distance for this trip will be 14 miles (7 Miles each direction) We may be out for up to 5hrs so please plan accordingly. Due to the potential of wind and current this event is recommended for Level 2+ kayakers with sea-kayaks or 12+ ft. Rec. Kayaks with bulkheads only who also have experience in paddling in tidal areas as well as wet exit & capsize recoveries. Also you must have appropriate safety gear including PFD, Paddle Float & Pump.

Location: Dover, NH from Dover Hilton Park From 95 North take Exit 4 onto Spaulding Turnpike/Route 16. After crossing the bridge, take 1st exit to the boat ramp. Hilton Park/rest area is located at Dover Point on Great Bay and the Piscataqua River, adjacent to General Sullivan Bridge. Playground, picnic areas, boat launch. Dangerous currents, no swimming. Located just off Route 4/Spaulding Turnpike. Dover. Free Parking

Life vests must be worn when paddling with this group.
