ACA Coastal Kayaking L1 Instructor I have an excellent sweep roll on both sides, a good handroll (in my sea kayak and playboat), and a passable back-deck roll. I have excellent re-rentry and self rescue skills, and experience performing other rescues including T/H/X Rescues and Hand-of-God rescue, towing, and using throw ropes. I know how to properly scout currents, and have safely navigated class IV rapids. I regularly surf with both my sea kayak and playboat, and am comfortable planning, leading, and executing trips. I have led multi-day flatwater and sea kayaking trips throughout the NE area. I am currently CPR/AED & Basic First Aid certified. I worked as a whitewater guide in VT in 2012, and helped to run UNH Adventure Rec's pool kayaking/training sessions. Most of my instruction has been informal, however I have worked extensively with ACA Certified Whitewater/Swiftwater Guides, and Certified ME Sea Kayaking Guides. I am developing basic VHF radio skills.
Level 4 kayaker. I am very comfortable with rolls with or without a paddle. I am comfortable in sizable swells and surf. Comfortable towing and rescuing other paddlers. Comfortable navigating Class III whitewater in my sea kayak. Experience rescuing and extracting self and others from hydraulics. Experience doing extended 20+ mile paddles. Fast paced paddler.
Enjoy Whitewater and Sea kayaking, particularly surfing and rock gardening.
A fun, energetic group of individuals. They welcome people of all ages and ability levels and provide a wonderful paddling experience.
