I fell in love with ocean kayaking when I kayakked with a group in the Chesapeake Bay in 1995. I bought a kayak 5 years later in 2000 and have been kayaking ever since.
I have a wilderness systems Cape Horn 15'.11"
mostly ocean kayaking to various islands. I've kayaked to Misery Island and hiked around, kayaked from Hingham habor to the various little islands, Grape & two others their names escape me. I've kayaked from Scortons creek to East Sandwich Beach in the Cape. And kayaked on Squam lake with 17 mph winds, it was choppy to say the least. I've done some Class I II & III KAYAKING in NH but because my boat is so long and Kevlar - I tend to shy away from the fun because I dont want to damage it. Love outdoor exploring and just being on the move to reach a destination.
I haven't taken informal safety courses beginning in 2005/2006 from trainers I'd kayak with. Don't remember much as far as explaining what I know. In times of crises, it just comes back to me when friends have been in trouble. I have practiced my rolls in the past but get very scared once upside down and gave up for a while.
I'd say intermediate but have no formal certifications.
