Newry recent blasting unveiled tourmalines of all hues: schorl, dravite, blue, green, and even a couple of watermelon samples were found by this ME GFeological Survey trip. I came home with literally hundreds of nicely formed (unterminated) tourmalines...doubt I will ever sift through dirt and find so many inch thick pieces again.

The day was beautiful..Found a ton of nicely formed shorl, ddravite, blue and green tourmaline. Couple of people on the dig found relly lovely watermelon tourmaline just laying on the path to the dumps.

At the end of the day, I spoke with the mine owner about whether NE Rockhounds could schedule a trip in September. He took info. and said he would see what was open, but was good with the idea if we could assemble a 30 person crowd. Anyone have buddies who would like to hit Newry?

I also have sent out email to Bob Whitman of Palermo Mines asking permission for NE Rockhound trip. Anyone interested?
