What is your personal history with rock hounding/mineralogy/fossil collecting?

Just a general love of interesting rocks- I am an avid hiker, climber, kayaker, surfer and outdoorsperson who can't resist looking at and collecting cool rocks from wherever I may be. Have found fossils along roadcuts in Upstate NY, Canadian Jade and Amethyst in river beds in the White Mountains.

What are you hoping to get out of this meetup?

To meet like minded people, get out and play, and expand my knowledge of rocks and minerals

Are you comfortable sharing your own knowledge to enrich the meetup experience for all membersfrom novice to expert?

Hi there- I am a middle school science teacher, and avid outdoorsperson who can't resist bringing rocks back home with me! Rocks and minerals all over my house. Sounds like my kind of group!
