What is your personal history with rock hounding/mineralogy/fossil collecting?

I have done mega reading on the subject of geology and rocks, and must have a dozen or more books on the subject. I’m a Mindat member and always researching online. We attend the Gilsum Rock Swap yearly and the East Coast Gem & Mineral Show. One of our best friends is Nancy; she is a Geologist and Fellow hound. She also owns a Nature Rock Shop in Tiverton RI. This sure helps with identification of those not so easy to figure out finds. Her wealth of information soaks into me like a sponge.

What are you hoping to get out of this meetup?

Meeting other’s interested in… well…Rockhounding of course! Hound’s, those who are willing to go on long day trips or overnighters. For the chance, no matter how remote, of finding new specimen’s to add to their collections. Not afraid to get dirty and look a mess. A pure rockhound trait for sure.

Are you comfortable sharing your own knowledge to enrich the meetup experience for all membersfrom novice to expert?

Knowledge is power, if I can I will.

Greetings from Little Rhody! I’m Lisa and I “Love” Geology and Nature! We've been hounding for years now. Not much here in little Rhody, but the surrounding state's rock! Pun Intended :) We like the Leavearite’s & Fugly’s.
