Iris Festival...Schreiner's Iris Gardenst

The Iris Festival is one of my favorites because there is such a variety of flowers in this garden.  This will be my third year!  If you haven't been, it is definetely worth going.  You may want to go during the week when it isn't as crowded.  But I am scheduling this early in the season so weather conditions could change the date.

In business since 1925, Schreiner's is the nation's largest retail grower of Iris, with 200 acres in nearby fields and 10 acres of fabulous display gardens open to the public.

In our fields, thousands of Iris will be in bloom, from the deepest black to pure white, fire red to azure blue, glowing copper to velvety purple. Solid color blooms contrast with multi-hued beauties. The spectacle of row after row, field after field of brilliantly blooming flowers is well worth the visit.

Beautiful gardens. I got out there just before 0600 am when the sun was rising. I shot for 3 hours and will be going back Tuesday morning to shoot some more of the gardens.

Hi, there . . . hope you had a great time. I cancelled a few days ago but it looks like it may not have taken, since I'm getting followup notices. It was probably a lovely morning, so perhaps I'll pretend I was there : )

I'm going to head in early and see how goes. It might get crazy down there on Mother's Day weekend and early may be the best shot. If it doesn't pan out, I'm going to take the back roads in to town. Maybe there'll be a great looking cow grazing in the early morning light ;-) Thanks for finding out about the time thing Rae Lynn!

Just letting you all know . . . drove by the garden/fields today. The fields are nowhere near their peak, only the earliest bloomers are out. The gardens may be better, as there are many different types of flowers. If you head down, you might also want to check out Adelman Peony Gardens. Take Quinaby across the freeway, turn left and follow the signs. It's a small garden, and have many kinds of flowers, not just Peonies. Can't make it this weekend . . . but hope to make it down a bit later in the season.

We often carpool from the Bridgeport Village inn Park and Ride. If you want to carpool from Bridgeport, leave a message here and contact each other about a meetup time. I will be going down the 205. I can pick up anyone at the 205 Mall if you contact me. I will call tomorrow to let you know what they say about getting in early. I am not sure I want to get there before 8am.

Raven I live in Hillsboro and would be interested in carpooling on Saturday. Generally they should be posting a meeting place for carpooling soon.

Fay, I live on the border of Tigard and thus probably not too close to your vicinity. I now think it is best for me to maybe try a carpool from Bridgeport.

It's beautiful, Dena - besides the fields, they have a lovely garden to wander through. So many gorgeous flowers, and a small pond with waterfalls...lovely :)

Apparently if we call a day or so before, we can get in early. This woould be preferable. I will check into it. I love these gardens. So many different varieties of flowers, not just the typical Iris.
