Save the Cabin Juried Exhibition to support Deri (a member)

Deri has sent me a request to post this meetup: She entered several of her images in the "Art for Education" Save the Cabin" juried exhibition and auction. She had 2 images accepted for for the exhibition/auction which takes place on April 27th. Here is the information below:

The event, to be held April 27th from 4-7pm, will be at the historic Robert Newell House Museum Complex. It will include the art exhibit and silent auction, museum offerings, appetizers and wine.

Work will be displayed online for viewing on April 21st and will be available for sale online after the event until 5-5, here: https://www.firstadditionsolutions.com/savethecabin

She is hoping that other members of our group entered their images for this exhibit/auction.

Please indicate in comments if you are interested in carpooling.  Arrange that with anyone in your area.

I will be at Cannon Beach this weekend so Deri will host this meetup!

Congratulations, Deri!

Jim and I had a great time at the show! The work was very interesting and the Newell House is wonderful. I spent a fair amount of time looking at the inauguration dresses of our Oregon Govenor's wives. I agree with Deri, it's should be fun next year too.

Awesome art show! I loved seeing the combination of photography along with many other art forms. It was beautifully set up. I ran into Jody and Denise at the show. Denise was one of the organizers of this event and did a wonderful job. I hope that this show will return next year as it is a really good support and a great venue for Oregon art and local history. Hopefully the Log Cabin will have a new home well before then.
If you have never been out to the Newell House and the Log Cabin (Champoeg Park) it is well worth the trip. They also put on fabulous displays of living history through out the year. A link to their website can be found here: http://www.champoeg.org/events/living-history.html

This a tentative 'yes' because I'll just be getting back from CA (actually, that makes it a stronger yes because St. Paul will be a real relief after CA!).

Thanks all! I am excited to be a part of this auction. The Log Cabin is not only important as a historic site, but has also played a large role in educating school age children as well as adults.
If anyone is interested, we could set up a photoshoot a few hours before the auction. Champoeg park is adjacent to the Newell House. There is a beautiful nature trail, a historic log cabin, the historic Butteville store (celebrating 150 years!), the visitors center and a pioneer garden to name a few of the attractions.
If people are interested, we could set a photoshoot up to work on HDR and also on long exposure camera techniques using variable neutral density filters or the Lee Big stopper. Champoeg park is on the Willamette river, which is perfect for shooting the ultra long exposures. I have 10 stop ND filters and variable ND filter that fit 77 mm lens and 82 mm lens if people are interested in trying them out.

Why not go into the park and photograph the cabin? You could do the old townsite, an empty field, with markers. Go up into the state visitors area and photograph the garden, the barn. You don't pay a parking fee at the Newell House, the park is about a 1/4 mile away. You need to pay a parking fee for the state park. Might be smart to car pool to the event.
