Scavenger Hunt 4

YAY! It's time for a new scavenger hunt.  This is done on your own time, wherever you want. The idea is to take photos, not hunt through old photos. All photos must be taken from May 23rd through end of day June 14th. Photos should be posted in the Scavenger Hunt 4 gallery and MUST be labeled with the number and name of the category. You can post photos at any time but the LAST DAY TO POST IS JUNE 14th. Voting will begin on June 15th.

ALTHOUGH THIS IS A VIRTUAL MEETUP, YOU MUST RSVP "YES" IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE EMAILS ABOUT VOTING OR OTHER NEWS ON THIS MEETUP. I will post and email the link to the Survey Monkey survey. As photos are uploaded I will be rearranging them so that all photos within the same categories will be lumped together. This will make for easier voting.

And the categories are:

• 1. Self Portrait

• 2. Contradiction/s

• 3. Text

• 4. Lights of the night

• 5. Games people play

• 6. Music

• 7. Abstract

• 8. What is it?

• 9. Something old

• 10. Pink

Please only post a maximum of 10 images, one for each category.

Use any interpretation you desire on these, be creative and have fun. To post a picture, go to "Photos" in the top menu, click and locate "Scavenger Hunt 4." You DO NOT have to do all of the categories. Do as many as you like. ENJOY!

Andrea thanks for doing this project. It was my first attempt and I liked it. Question": Do you think that a separate album could be created for the ten winners - it would help me a lot to see them that way. I noticed that scavenger hunt 3 has a separate winners album. Just a thought.

    • Andrea D.

Thanks Fay, I'm glad you liked it. As an assistant organizer I don't have the "power" to create the album, our lovely leader Rae Lynn will create it. She has been out of town and I believe at times she was out of wifi areas. I'm sure it will happen soon.

      June 27, 2014

    • Rae Lynn N.

I have moved the winners to a separate album. Congratulation to all.

    Thanks that will be great.

Thank you for all the thank yous ;-). It's my pleasure. It is a fun challenge and great to see all the different creative interpretations. Getting ready for #5. Stay tuned and happy shooting!

What an amazingly fun thing for our group to do. It is a lot of work for you Andrea and I want you to know how much I and I am sure all of us appreciate what you are doing. THANK YOU!

    • Susan B.

Thank you Andrea for all your time and effort for this activity. It was a lot of fun and congratulations to the winners.

I agree - thank you so much! It's a great exercise both for the photographer and to see others' creative ideas.

Hi everyone, I don't know where to post this, but I am in the process of selling my house, moving to Corvallis, hopefully, and dealing with family illness, so I am not so active right now. I try to comment on new photos, and I encourage everyone to do so. It is so very encouraging to see comments on one's photos.

    • Sharyn W.

Thank you. It's a different journey for sure.

      June 15, 2014

    • Eileen K.

I liked the pictures of your house that you posted, Sharyn. It looks perfect for someone who likes a cozy home that "reaches outdoors" . . . hope you find a similar place in Corvallis.

      Agreed, difficult choices.

      June 17, 2014

  • Rae Lynn N.

I loved this hunt because it really made a person think!

    June 17, 2014

    • Brenda H

I agree. It was a tough one but helps get the creative juices going! Seeing what others come up with can only help!

      June 17, 2014

  • Penne F.

I am finding it is more difficult to vote than it is finding the scavenger items! The submissions are so good, I am having trouble just picking one for each category! Good work ladies!!

    3 · June 16, 2014

  • Rae Lynn N.

For me, I like having the 10 categories. It gives everyone a chance to find something they feel comfortable with and inspired by. It is not a requirement to finish all categories nor look at everything within a specific time frame. It isn't even an expection you will comment on them.

    2 · June 15, 2014

    • Eileen K.

I like your point regarding finding subjects among those offered that work for you . . .

      1 · June 15, 2014

    • Penne F.

I also like the 10 categories. Lots of variety and it isn't necessary to get them all. Just fun trying! :)

I always have so much fun. I love working with new themes that I may not have thought of.

Hi everyone! I will send an email with this as well. The photos have been reorganized for easier voting.

Thanks for your hard work, Andrea . . . this was fun!

      June 15, 2014

  • Andrea D.

There were a great deal of photos this time. The thing is, the winners get to chose the next categories. This time, if someone wins more than 1 category that will drop us down to 9. I will also give the winners the option to not submit a category, and sometimes the winners don't reply. We will slowly whittle the number of categories down.

    June 15, 2014

  • Pamela L.

I was thinking the same thing Sharyn. Fewer categories....like 5 maybe.

    1 · June 15, 2014

    • Eileen K.

I do notice that when we have "album" projects the number of general common album contributions drops . . . and yet a scavenger hunt has a particular structure where a certain number of "finds" make it fun . . . but I think I agree a smaller number would be more manageable in general. I'm not the type to go out and get them all, so it may be a little unfair to even comment. And I still haven't seen all the images, as yet.

      June 15, 2014

  • Sharyn W.

Hi everyone. Great job on Scavenger Hunt. I am wondering, since so many members are posting, if the number of challenges per month could be a smaller number. I can't view all these wonderful images!

Ran out of time so I changed my RSVP. Hopefully next time :)

I agree with Rae Lynn, all of the images are really good and creative. Since I am leaving for Trillium Lake tomorrow, I don't have time to comment on every one of them, but ladies - they are super. If anyone still wants to come out and camp this weekend, I will be up there from Saturday until Tuesday. Email me at [masked] if you are interested.

Sorry I can't come up. Got tickets to see Kenny Rogers.

Has anyone else run into a problem trying to upload a photo here. I keep getting a message from Meetup saying it only accepts JPEG files and a couple of others. My file is clearly a JPEG. I even went back to the computer and started over saving in a different way. Ideas? All my others processed in the same way uploaded fine. ????

    June 13, 2014

    • Eileen K.

Yes, how did you outsmart "it"? All tech is "it" to me . . . >: )

      June 13, 2014

    • Pamela L.

It seemed to be hung up on the file name. So I changed it, resaved it and it uploaded with no problem. Ours is not to reason why.......

I am so impressed with the images for our scavenger hunts. We need to exhibit them somewhere! There are so many talented and creative ladies in this group!!!

    2 · June 13, 2014

    • Eileen K.

While I'm not one for exhibiting (mainly a time issue for me) I agree with Rae Lynn; I've been enjoying these contributions so much. Not only for the photographic talent but the innovative ideas re subject matter.

I couldn't figure out how to label my photo when I uploaded it from my computer. It's clear how to do it from my phone but my pictures are on my computer. Sorry I broke the rules already. Lol.

    June 9, 2014

    • Andrea D.

No worries Angela. After you upload the photo go to your photo in the album and below it click the "caption" link and type away. Hope this helps and please let me know if it doesn't.

      June 9, 2014

  • Eileen K.

Andrea, are we allowed to comment on the posted entries? I can see where it would counter a voting effort, but feel the itch, so to speak, to . . . well . . . speak. What say you?

    May 29, 2014

    • Andrea D.

Sure. People have always posted comments. So, speak up :-)

I don't know if I will have the time, but I'm going to try because this list rocks! Nice going, Andrea and others who contributed.

    1 · May 23, 2014

    • Andrea D.

write the list down and carry it with you. You never know when you might spot something, and it's ok to use your camera phone if you don't have your regular camera with you, and a big part of this is really about keeping our eyes open, being creative, and seeing everything around us. Who knows, you may be driving to an appointment or running an errand and have a "wow" moment. Remember you don't have to do them all; I only did a few last time.

We shall see! Will really try to participate but it's my uber-busy season right now.

    May 23, 2014

  • Rae Lynn N.

Wow, we are ramping up the game with these items! I can't wait to get started. Put on your thinking caps! Let the games begin!

    2 · May 23, 2014

    • Andrea D.

I think it's a great list. So many of them have room for all kinds of interpretation. I'm looking forward too seeing the creativity everyone brings.
